Adai

My daughter just loves dosas..she can have it every night of the week.

She started today's puranam in the morning...amma..can you make dosa tonight please? I did not have the batter for dosa ready...so I decided I'll make adai. I can pass that for dosa with my daughter - as long as I make it thin and round and serve it with chutney! That was my evil plan..!!

So, here's the ingredients list for adai -

Rice - 2 cup
Toor Daal - 1/4 - 1/2 cup
Channa Daal - 1/4 - 1/2 cup
Black pepper - fresh ground
Salt
Curry Leaves
Green Chilli - 2-3

Soak the Rice and daals for about 2-3 hrs. Add green chillies, fresh ground black pepper and grind the rice and daal to a coarse batter.

Take a spoonful of batter and pour it on a hot dosa plate and make a dosa like adai. Add 1/2 tsp oil on top of the adai. When the bottom is nicely done, do not flip it over and cook. Just cook it one side. That makes the inside of the adai a little soft and easier to eat.

Serve hot with Chutney. One of the other popular and tastier wayto eat adai is to eat it along with jaggery. That's the best combination! Enjoy.

This recipe is on its way to participate in the "Dosa Corner Event" hosted by Padma's Kitchen. Thanks for hosting Padma!
